FreeBSD VPS's
Our FreeBSD VPS's are hosted in the U.S. and built on the FreeBSD 4.8 operating system, Pentium 4 2.4Ghz processors, 2 Gb of RAM, and RAID-1 disks for data security.
Each virtual machine is implemented using FreeBSD's built-in "jail" feature which allows us to create new VPS's on the fly. As part of our offering, we also provide our clients with a remote back-up facility which allows them complete control over the whole back-up and restore process. Apart from that, we also create a backup of each VPS once a week as a precautionary measure.
When it comes to upgrades, nothing is more simpler here at JVDS. We can seamlessly perform upgrade operations at any time without causing any downtime for the specified VPS. We can even enhance it's security by installing a firewall to prevent hackers from compromising it.
The best part of purchasing a JVDS VPS is the control. Since each client has root access, all aspects of the VPS can be manipulated and configured according to their specifications. For the initial system installation, we offer a selection of base system images: A full-install image which configures the VPS with website, e-mail, DNS, and web-based control panel facilities ready to go within minutes or a basic-install image which gives clients the capability of a more custom configuration for their VPS.
Unfortunately, there are some minor limitations on our FreeBSD VPS's:
» ICMP-based network communications don't work. (e.g. ping commands)
» Clients are limited to only one (1) IP address. (Note: This issue should be resolved soon.)

Note: For every purchase of a FreeBSD VPS, JVDS donates 10% of the initial payment to the FreeBSD project via the FreeBSD foundation. For more information, please visit our donations page.
