About PoundHost’s Datacenter

PoundHost was born in 1998 (then known as Neighbourhood Internet) by the current Managing Director, Matthew Munson. Their dynamic approach to non-profit making organizations soon spread, and they quickly found themselves dealing with other charities, including large Zoos (providing infrastructure services for park wide automated webcams and websites) and more.

This is when PoundHost started. They realized that they could leverage the networks they were deploying for their customers, and base their own hosting company on this, thus reducing hosting costs and keeping their work “in-house”. Within a short period of time they opened their own data centre in Maidenhead to host their own, and their customers servers.

PoundHost own and maintain their own data centres based in Maidenhead, Berkshire, 25 miles from London. They also have space in Global Switch 1, London Docklands and have recently completed the expansion to their second datacenter which has room for more than 850 servers, including rack space. Their datacenters utilize full APC UPS systems, 15kVA generator backups, climate controlled air, a 24/7 CCTV and alarm system, and 24/7 on-site security personnel
